Window Specifications

Timber:
Magnet Trade windows are produced from FSC certified premium kiln dried Scandinavian redwood complying with BS EN 942:2007. Windows are available in Hardwood and European Oak.

Preservative:
All Magnet Trade softwood windows are factory treated by double vacuum impregnation using a preservative that guards against fungal decay and rot. This conforms to BS 8417, and allows us to guarantee all our softwood timber windows and door frames against attack by fungal decay or rot for 30 years.

Glass and Glazing:
All double glazing units in Magnet Trade windows are fully compliant to glass standard EN 1279 part 1 to 3 to ensure the unit make-up is correct and gas retention is not lost thoughout the units effective life cycle.

Factory glazed windows are supplied fully conforming to glazing standard BS 6262 and are dry glazed with drainage and ventilation to meet the requirements of the NHBC.

Glass will be annealed as standard. If toughened glass is required then this must be stated at the point of purchase by the customer.

Building Regulation Part L (Key Facts)
All factory glazed windows and doors are supplied with 24mm low-e glass to meet the requirements of document L from building regulations in replacement situation. On new build, only the architect/building designer can determine the actual u-values required from their windows and doors based on total performance of building project when calculated through the SAP reading.

An alternative way of complying with the replacement market is to use an energy rated window above a D rating. Magnet supply A and C rated windows.

Installation of windows for the replacement market must be carried out by a FENSA approved installer or approval is required from local building control.

Ventilation:
Building Regulation Part F (Key Facts)
Approved Document F stipulates that there are four ways of complying to the building regulation:
System 1: Background ventilators and intermittent extract fans
System 2: Passive stack ventilation
System 3: Continuous mechanical extract
System 4: Continuous mechanical supply and extract with heat recovery

All Magnet Trade products are supplied with trickle ventilators to achieve this requirement and are compliant with Part F, however it is the architects/specifiers responsibiliy on new build to ensure the required EA (“Equivalent Area”) is achieved.

Cill Options:
Magnet Trade windows are available in a variety of Cill options including: 92mm, 125mm, 140mm, 154mm, 164mm and 181mm.
