Core Specifications

Standard Core – A multi-cell or spacer pad core for light duty, non-fire rated applications. Suitable for domestic use.

Semi Solid Core – Offering additional weight to the Standard 35mm door, the specification is optional on certain moulded panel doors.

Safe ‘N’ Sound – Solid core material in a standard thickness door, offering the best specification.

Fireshield FD30 – A high density particl board, which requires no timber framing, at a thickness of 44mm. When correctly installed with suitable fire rated hardware, intumescent strips and fire door frame, the door will provide certified fire resistance.

Lock block location – On standard core moulded doors ‘Lock’ is inkjetted on the top edge of the door on the side where the lock block is positioned.  Where there is no such indication, the lock block will be on both sides. The lock block position is 880mm from the top of the door to the top of the lock block.  The lock block is 360mm long. For Semi-solid doors there is a solid section, central in door height, full length both sides.

Trimming – Fire doors must not be trimmed on top edge (the Certifire label must not be removed) and only up to a maximum of 5mm on bottom edge and 3mm on stiles.  Other moulded doors can be trimmed by up to a maximum of 5mm off any edge. Equal amounts should be removed from opposite edges.

Finishing – Moulded panel doors are supplied with a white base coat, ready for on site finishing. To ensure adequate coverage at least 3 top coats of paint need to be applied, prior to installation. Any areas which have been cut, trimmed or drilled etc must be fully painted to the same standard as the rest of the door.
